KEY LARGO (CBSMiami) -- A dog has survived an attack by a crocodile in the Florida Keys.

According to Keysnet.com, it all happened in Key Largo on Tuesday, May 14.

The 65-pound dog was swimming in a canal when a 40-pound crocodile attacked the dog, according to the site.

The dog survived but did need veterinary care.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers removed the crocodile from the canal.
