DAVIE (CBSMiami) -- Police are on the hunt for a man who threatened a restaurant employee with a knife before taking cash from the register.
It happened Wednesday afternoon inside of the Little Caesars at 6029 Stirling Road.
Video shows the store was empty as the man walked in and immediately went behind the counter.
He demanded a female employee open two registers and she stood off to the side while he pulled out the cash.
The thief walked out the door and then ran off into the parking lot. The employee was not hurt.
CBS4 showed the surveillance video to Kaylynn Creson who lives nearby and often gets food at Little Caesars.
"I don't understand what's going on in the world today," she said. "If I would have seen that before I probably wouldn't have stopped. I would've been too scared to."
David Cambron also stops at this Little Caesars from time to time. He's concerned about being here at the wrong time.
"You come here to pick up food and you might run into something like this," he said.
Cambron hopes to see more Davie Police patrolling this parking lot in light of this armed robber's actions. He and Creson hope the employee is alright and that anyone who knows this guy turns him in.
"I think we should all come together and if we know something, let's find out and put a stop to this," Creson said.
No one from the restaurant would speak with CBS4 News and they referred to their corporate headquarters.
Investigators with Davie Police say that they are working with other law enforcement agencies in the county to see if this guy might have struck anywhere else.
