Dallas Shootings Unfold Through Social Media

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Millions of people learned of the Dallas shootings over social media.
Demonstrators began posting on social media about the shooting at around 9 p.m. Dallas time. One video posted at 9:02 p.m. shows peaceful protesters and then chaos breaks out.

As the situation unfolded, more videos and photos began flooding Twitter feeds.
Alison Griz posted "I am so scared." as dozens of gun shots rang out in the background.

CBS News' Manuel Bojorquez made his way to the scene, where he found officers trying to clear civilians from an alley where a suspect appeared to be cornered just before 11 p.m.
Just before midnight, Dallas Police then tweeted a picture of one person of interest – a man with a goatee holding a rifle. Then a Dallas protest organizer said that person of interest is his brother. That man turned himself in.

Corey Hughes said in a TV interview his brother Mark was marching with an unloaded gun, and turned it over to a police officer immediately after the shots were fired.
Just before 1 a.m., Dallas Police Chief David Brown said three suspects were in custody and the fourth was still in negotiations with police. The fourth suspect - Micah Johnson – was killed by an explosive device after negotiations with police fell through at about 2:30 a.m., right after saying he acted alone.
