Dade Teen Shot While Fleeing Police
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A Miami-Dade teen is hospitalized after being shot by detectives working on a robbery prevention detail.
According to Miami-Dade police, around 10:45 p.m. the detectives were working in the area of NW 69th Street and NW 10th Avenue when they noticed a teen with a bulge in his waist band. When they went to approach him the teen, 19-year old Eduardo Barnes, began to run.
The detectives chased after him and at one point, according to police, Barnes pulled a gun from his waist band and pointed it at the detectives chasing him. The detectives then pulled their guns and shot Barnes.
He was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center where he's listed as stable.
A records check showed that there were two open warrants for Barnes' arrest. One was Driving with a Suspended License, the other was for Resisting without Violence & Grand Theft.
