TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) - With Florida Power & Light proposing nearly $1.34 billion in rate increases over three years, state regulators have scheduled a series of hearings in June to gather input from customers.
The hearings will be held June 2 in Fort Myers; June 3 in Sarasota; June 15 in West Palm Beach; June 16 in Melbourne and Daytona Beach; June 27 in Miami; June 28 in Fort Lauderdale and Pembroke Pines; and June 29 in Miami Gardens, according to a schedule posted on the Florida Public Service Commission website.
FPL, the state's largest utility, formally filed the rate-hike request last month with the regulatory commission. If the request is approved by the commission, the first increase of $866 million would take effect in 2017.
