MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami Gardens Police say a peeping tom is spying on children in a neighborhood along Northwest 198 Street and his target appears to be young children.

A surveillance camera rolled outside a home near Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens earlier this month. Police say it captured a peeping tom in the act, spying on children between the ages of 5 and 12 years of age and that he's done it at least twice.

"This is a sick individual," said Miami Gardens Police Officer Carlos Austin. "We see that he's taking pictures, video and also he's touching himself."

Neighbors and longtime residents are concerned.

"It's very important that they catch him because I don't want him to come to my window," said a woman named Sylvaine, who asked that we not use her last name.

The neighborhood is filled with children and there are schools nearby. That leaves parents, like Yvonne Hines, who has a daughter, especially worried.

"I don't want her to encounter with anyone like that," she said.

Police officers went door to door in the neighborhood on Friday handing out flyers and asking if anyone has seen this guy. Many had not.

"I've never seen this individual before," said Eustace Walters.

But Walters and others hope the police track him down and that this video leads to an arrest.

"We want to take him out of circulation," said Officer Austin. "We want to arrest him. We want to take him into custody as soon as possible."
