Candidates Hit Streets Vying For Every Vote
MIAMI (CBS4) - With less than a week before election day, candidates are criss-crossing Florida. They and their supporters are jumping through hoops to get your vote.
Republican candidate for Governor Rick Scott hit several cities Wednesday, flying in to Miami for a quick stop at the West Miami-Dade Regional Library polling precinct.
Scott's opponent, Democrat Alex Sink stopped in Fort Myers and Port Saint Lucie hoping to rev up voters.
And on the Senate race side, Democratic Congressman Kendrick Meek attended a forum in Sunrise, trying to gain momentum from the bottom of the polls.
"I've been down in the polls from birth. We've always struggled and worked ourselves to the top, that's how we won the primary. This is about who votes and how they vote," said Meek.
Independent Governor Charlie Crist stopped in Orlando, Ocala and Gainsville while Republican Marco Rubio hit Pensacola and Panama City.
The goal of many of these candidates is to portray themselves as political outsiders. And with good reason, many voters say they want change.
Rick Scott says he is the ultimate outsider.
"Absolutely I'm an outsider, I've never run for office before. I came from the private sector. We've tried all these career politicians, like my opponent, she's a Tallahassee insider."
Sink also considers herself an outsider because Tallahassee has been controlled by Republicans for the past four years.
Whether they're insiders or outsiders- one truth remains. The candidates better hope their voices hold out...this is only the beginning of the final push for votes.
