Big Brother 16 Crowns A Winner And Gets Renewed
And the winner is…
After a summer of fierce completion, tense social situations, and hilarious scenarios, the winner of Big Brother 16 has been crowned.
Derrick Levasseur the 30-year-old Police Sergeant from Providence, RI took home the $500,000 prize and was named Big Brother 16 Winner on Thursday night following a long road to victory in the season finale.
Big Brother also ended its 16th season with a promise of more to come in coming years.
CBS has renewed the summer reality hit for a 17th and 18th edition, marking two more years of Big Brother in summer 2015 and 2016.
“Big Brother continues to be the one of the summer’s most dominant programs, and with each season, Allison and Rich produce the most twisted ways to evolve the series creatively,” said Chris Castallo, CBS’ Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming. “With its one-of-a-kind format, coupled with its passionate, socially engaged fan base, no other show comes close to duplicating it.”
It should come as no surprise that the network renewed the series with it being one of television’s most socially engaging series.
Big Brother premiered in summer of 2000 and quickly became a television favorite, consistently finishing among summer’s top-rated series.
This summer’s season may be over, but at least there are two more to look forward to.
