MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Three people are in custody charged in a Miami Gardens carjacking.

Vivian Nunes, 78, told police on Friday, Nov. 30th, around 4:30 p.m., a man and two teens came up to him while he was working on his lawn at 186th Street and NW 9th Avenue and asked if he could give them a ride to the bus stop. The trio reportedly said they were from out-of-town and needed help.

While Nunes was giving them a ride, police said one of the subjects pulled a gun, pointed it at Nunes' head and told him to stop and get out.

When Nunes stopped, one of the subjects got out, went to the driver's side of the vehicle, pulled him out and then threw him to the ground. They then drove off.

Nunes suffered minor scrapes and bruises.

Police spotted his vehicle a short time later with three people inside. When they saw the approaching officers, they fled on foot.

Police were able to round-up to of the subjects quickly. The third was found hiding in a nearby fenced business and was taken into custody with the assistance of a Miami-Dade Special Response team.

Police have identified one of the subjects as 22-year old Orlando Norris. The other two were 14-year old twin brothers which CBSMiami.com is not naming because of their age.

All three have been charged with one count each of armed carjacking.
