Adoption Event This Weekend At AIDS Walk Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Those who go to the AIDS Walk Miami alone this may leave with a four-legged furry friend.

Miami-Dade County Animal Services will host an adoption event on Sunday, April 27,  from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens, 2000 Convention Center Drive, where the fundraiser will be held.

Cats and dogs will be available for adoption at reduced adoption fees and fees will be waived for anyone who adopts dog over 35 pounds.  Adopters will be responsible for a $27 license fee.

Each animal at the event will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Adoptions will take place during the celebration after the walk-a-thon marathon. Those attending will also be able to enjoy entertainment, food, music and much more.

AIDS Walk Miami is a 5K walk-a-thon fundraiser benefiting Care Resource, South Florida's largest HIV/AIDS community organization providing research, prevention, care and treatment services to individuals in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties who are either affected or infected with HIV/AIDS.

The fundraiser also benefits Food For Life Network Food Bank that provides and delivers groceries, meals and nutritional education to eliminate malnutrition and starvation in men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS in Miami Dade.
