Miami Teen Shot Near Police Station

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – An investigation is underway after a Miami teen was shot virtually across the street from a Miami police station.

Miami police said a 17-year old, identified by his mother as Brandon Allen,  was shot near an apartment building at NW 10th Avenue and 62nd Street, as a group of teens was walking home from school.

Another group of teens drove up, opened fire on Allen and his friends, and fled. Allen was hit a number of times, but nobody else was injured.

Chopper4 over the scene spotted the streets on both sides of the building sealed off by police cars and crime scene tape was stretched across the parking lot. The building is on the same block as the Miami Police Department's North Station.

Allen was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was reported  in critical condition.

Officers in the area were searching for the gunman who they believe may be driving a green Nissan Maxima.
