Desmond Shaw
Desmond Shaw is a native of Southern California, having lived and worked here his entire life.
Growing up by the beach in Ventura, he began his broadcasting career during his final year at Cal State Northridge as a news anchor for the school radio station, KCSN.
From there, he interned at National Public Radio while also getting to know Southern California communities intimately as a courier, driving hundreds of miles a day.
He parlayed that experience into traffic reporting for numerous LA radio stations, including KNX News radio for more than a decade, winning multiple Golden Mike Awards.
He joined CBS LA's SKYCAL on Christmas Day 2015 and became a full-time reporter and cameraman in 2021.
When he isn't covering breaking news like police pursuits and brush fires, he enjoys exploring new areas with his dog Duke, cruising the 101 in his convertible and driving high-performance cars on any of Southern California's epic mountain roadways.
