San Bernardino County deputies searching for missing baby in Yucaipa
The desperate search for a 7-month-old baby continued on Monday as San Bernardino County deputies combed through several areas in Yucaipa and Cabazon, including the family's home.
Emmanuel Haro was reported missing on Thursday after someone attacked his mother outside of a Big 5 Sporting Goods store in the 34500 block of Yucaipa Boulevard, according to the family. Mother Rebecca Haro said she was changing her baby's diaper when someone punched her. When she came to, she ran into the sporting goods store and called 911.
"I ran the perimeter and there's nothing here," Rebecca Haro said on Friday. "There's no cameras here. There's nothing. They should have something here."
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said it recovered a substantial amount of surveillance video from "areas of interest" that will be reviewed.
As of Saturday, investigators have not ruled out the possibility of foul play.
Deputies also interviewed Rebecca and Emmanuel's father Jake Haro, about the disappearance. The Sheriff's Department said deputies confronted Rebecca Haro over "inconsistencies" in her initial statements about the alleged kidnapping. Following the confrontation, she chose to end the interviews, according to deputies. The Sheriff's Department served several search warrants at the family's home. Deputies have been using K-9s to help with the investigation.
The Riverside County Department of Public Social Services removed a 2-year-old from the family's home following Emmanuel's disappearance, according to investigators.
Court records showed that Jake Haro pleaded guilty to willful child cruelty in 2023. The Riverside County District Attorney's Office also charged him with firearm violations, which violated his probation. He's expected in court on Sept. 2.
