Woman dies after fire engulfs Calabasas mobile home

A woman was found dead after a fire engulfed a mobile home in Calabasas on Monday.

The blaze was reported a little after 3:25 p.m. in the 23700 block of Mulholland Highway near Calabasas Village, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Firefighters had extinguished the flames an hour later and entered the mobile home to find a 45-year-old woman dead inside, they said. They said that she was not mobile and needed help getting around with a wheelchair.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim.

"Investigators learned an adult female was seen running out of the location as the fire consumed the residence," according to a release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, who were assisting with the investigation. "The adult female was briefly detained, treated at a local hospital for smoke inhalation, and later released to her mother from Lost Hills Sheriff's Station."

One firefighter was hospitalized after suffering a minor heat-related injury after the fire had already been put out, department officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
