Van Nuys 'Scrambles' To Make Crosswalks Safer

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — Safer crosswalks officially went into use Monday in Van Nuys.

The "scramble crosswalk" at the intersection of Sylvan Street and Sylmar Avenue is the San Fernando Valley's first "all-way" stop controlled diagonal crosswalk.

The location is in a busy area near Van Nuys City Hall, a library, and other government buildings.

The signals stop traffic in all directions and let pedestrians cross the intersection diagonally, in all directions.
