Two Long Beach Dog Rescue Workers Face Charges Of Animal Cruelty

LONG BEACH (CBS) — Two Long Beach women who operate an animal rescue group face charges of animal cruelty after being caught transporting 140 dogs in a U-Haul truck and minivan with no food or water.

Bonnie Sheehan and Pamela King-McCracken of Hearts for Hounds were pulled over by a Tennessee state trooper while on their way to Virginia.

The dogs were reportedly being transported in cramped carriers stacked on top of each other in inhumane conditions.

The American Human Society sent a team to Memphis Friday to help care for the dogs.

The dogs are not eligible for adoption because they are considered evidence in the case.
