Tainted Chocolate Sickens 8 Students At Carver Middle School
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Authorities say eight Carver Middle School students were sickened after eating tainted chocolate.
Paramedics were called to the South Los Angeles school, at 4410 South McKinley Avenue, at about 8: 40 a.m.
Eight students were taken to a local hospital for accelerated heartbeats.
Authorities initially believed the students ate marijuana-laced brownies that were brought to school by a student. Monica Carazo of the Los Angeles Unified School District says the chocolate was tainted with some sort of drug, but it was unknown if it was marijuana.
The patients were between the ages of 11 and 13 years old.
