Southern California gets major warm up with above normal temperatures
Southern California is expected to get a major warm up with temperature highs reaching 15 to 20 degrees above normal Wednesday, weather officials say.
KCAL News Meteorologist Amber Lee said a high-pressure system is hovering over the region causing warm and dry air.
Coastal communities are experiencing dense fog Wednesday morning, but clouds will clear, and the sun will come out.
The National Weather Service said parts of the valleys could expect temperatures in the 80s with some lower 90s.
A heat advisory has not been issued since weather officials said record temperatures for the day are not that high.
The warming trend will continue into Thursday before conditions cool off Friday. A low-pressure system is right behind the current system.
"Max temps will be the main talking point on Friday… a switch to onshore flow will bring 12 to 18 degrees of cooling to LA/VTA counties and 8 to 12 degrees over SLO/SBA counties," the NWS said.
A slight chance of light rain will begin Saturday and remain until Monday.
