Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Newport Beach

NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police on Wednesday investigated the circumstances surrounding a deadly traffic collision in Orange County.

At 3 a.m., officers were sent to southbound Newport Boulevard south of Industrial Way for report of a vehicle versus a pedestrian, according to the Newport Beach Police Department.

Upon their arrival, paramedics pronounced a male victim dead at the scene.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification.

According to police, the crash is not being investigated as a hit-and-run incident.

All southbound lanes of Newport Boulevard between Industrial Way and Hospital Road remain closed until 7:30 a.m., police said.

Motorists have been advised to use alternate routes.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
