New Sports Academy Is A One-Stop Shop For Athletes In Training
THOUSAND OAKS — (CBSLA.com) Athletes trying to gain an edge over the competition have a new place to train, develop, recover from injuries and more.
"It's easy to come here because you got your baseball, your tutoring, your workout, so it's a one-stop shop," 14-year-old Nick Aye said.
Sports Academy, a 96,000-square-foot facility that opened early this summer, is the brainchild of Chad Faulkner, who had two kids playing sports at a high level and he found himself running around town for daily tasks.
Inside the converted industrial complex, athletes can find a state-of-the art gym equipment, five basketball courts, five volleyball courts, two beach volleyball courts, a turf field, batting cages, pitching mound, yoga therapy and it doesn't end there.
There's also a full medical staff and a nutritionist and dietitian. "We provide sports-specific training, development and healing," Faulkner said.
One of the more unique tools is the cryogenic therapy chamber taking the temperature down to -180 degrees and beyond for healing and recovery.
Oh, and if you feel like you're off your game, there's also a sports psychologist on site.
The center is open by appointment and due to the popularity it's been known to be open 24 hours straight.
