Neighbors Establish Fundraising Page To Cover Burial Costs For Apple Valley Man
APPLE VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Neighbors have raised funds to assist a woman who told authorities she buried her husband in the backyard of the family home because she could not afford a proper burial.
The body of 63-year-old Thomas Winn was found in a makeshift grave in the backyard of an Apple Valley home.
His widow, Yvonne, told authorities she did not have the resources to give her husband a proper burial.
Neighbors told the Los Angeles Times that they created a fundraising page and hope to raise $3,000 for a proper burial.
They are currently at 87 percent of their fundraising goal with $2,623, according to the website.
Winn died several weeks ago. Police said there was no sign of trauma to the body.
