Metro experiences delays in South Los Angeles after a body was found on train tracks
The Metro K Line is experiencing delays on Monday morning after a person was found dead on subway tracks in South Los Angeles, officials confirmed.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the body was found at about 7:02 a.m. on the tracks at the Leimert Park Station platform.
A spokesperson for the Metro later said in a statement that a person was riding between two rail cars when they fell onto the tracks. The person died after being hit by a K Line train.
The LAPD identified the person only as a 50-year-old man. The department said it's investigating the death as a "traffic accident."
"Metro wants to remind all riders to stay safely behind the yellow safety line on rail station platforms, to avoid riding between train cars or walking on or near the tracks at any time," the statement reads.
In an update posted to X at 8 a.m., the LA Metro said that trains were bypassing Leimert Park Station in both directions. Alternate service to Leimert Park can be found through the MLK Jr. Station or Metro Bus Lines 40 and 210.
