NEW YORK (CBSLA.com)  —  CBS News is reporting that former New York Governor Mario Cuomo has died.

Cuomo was 82.

The former three-term governor is also father to that state's current Governor Andrew Cuomo. From 1990-2005, the Cuomo clan was linked to the Kennedys with Andrew being married to RFK's daughter, Kerry. Since 2005, Cuomo has been partnered to Sandra Lee of Food Network ("Semi-Homemade") fame.

Another son, Christopher, is a CNN anchor.

The elder Cuomo passed away just six hours after his son was sworn in for his second term.

An unabashed liberal voice, the elder Cuomo became a fixture on the national stage in July 1984 with a stirring key note speech at the Democratic convention.
