Jim Thome Becomes 8th Player To Hit 600 Home Runs
(CBS) -- Minnesota Twins DH Jim Thome has hit two homers, #599 and #600 of his career in Detroit on Monday night.
Number 600 came off Daniel Schlereth in his 8,167th career at-bat.
Thome becomes the eighth player in MLB history to hit 600 home runs and the second fastest behind Babe Ruth (6,921 at-bats) .
Thome has played for the Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and the Twins.
Thome had 17 at-bats for the Dodgers in the 2009 season, without hitting a homer.
