FEMA extends deadline for Los Angeles wildfire victims to apply for federal aid
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended its deadline for residents in Los Angeles County who were impacted by the recent wildfires to apply for aid.
Assistance from the agency can help individuals with rental assistance, temporary housing, home repairs and personal property losses. The financial assistance can also be used to cover disaster-related needs that are not covered by insurance, such as childcare, medical needs, transportation and funeral costs.
FEMA has extended its deadline to March 31.
The agency has two disaster recovery centers near the Eaton and Palisade fire zones that residents can visit to apply for aid and access other resources.
- UCLA Research Park West: 10850 West Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90064
- Altadena Disaster Recovery Center: 540 W. Woodbury Road, Altadena, CA, 91001.
Any assistance provided by FEMA does not have to be repaid.
Residents can also apply anytime online at DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling FEMA's helpline at (800) 621-3362, or by using the FEMA mobile app. If you use a relay service, such as video relay (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA the number for that service.
The original deadline for residents to apply for aid was March 10. Los Angeles County has also extended its deadline for several relief grants including the LA County Household Relief Grant, LA Region Small Business Relief Fund and LA Region Worker Relief Fund. The deadline to apply to those grants is March 12.
