Deputies responded to the 2300 block of Carolyn Drive on Tuesday, May 14, regarding a report of a missing child, according to LASD. The case quickly turned into a death investigation and the search continues for the "remains of the infant," officials said.

It's unclear what exactly led detectives to the landfill. The 3-week-old baby has been missing since May 3, 2024, and was reportedly last seen with his father.

Tuesday's search comes at least five days after deputies were first called in regards to the missing child in Palmdale, according to LASD sources.

KCAL spoke to the family of the missing 3-week-old baby boy, who has not given up hope that he is still alive.

His great grandmother told us the baby was recently living at her daughter's home in Palmdale, the child's grandmother, along with two of his three siblings.

Both of the infant's parents are in custody in Ogden, Utah on unrelated charges, according to Ogden Police Department officers. They have not disclosed what charges they are being held on.

The investigation and search for the remains of the 3-week-old baby is ongoing at this time.

Anyone with information about this case was asked to call the Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
