City Council Votes To Amend LA's Barking Dog Ordinance
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — If you can't quiet your barking dog, it may cost you. The Los Angeles City Council has voted to amend the city's barking dog ordinance.
A first offense will cost dog owners $250. A second offense jumps to $500, and a third offense will result in a $1,000 fine.
Barking is considered excessive if it continues for 10 minutes or more, or intermittently for 30 minutes or more within a three-hour period.
The amended ordinance still needs to be signed by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
