Bomb Squad Safely Detonates Suspicious Device In Long Beach
LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police Tuesday investigated the circumstances surrounding a suspicious device that was found in an alleyway in Long Beach.
Around 1 a.m., a concerned citizen found a suspicious looking device in an alley located near 3rd Street and Alamitos Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Upon their arrival, officers located the item and called a bomb squad team for assistance at the scene.
Officials said the suspicious item appeared to be a real explosive.
Around 5 a.m., members of the bomb squad safely destroyed the item.
Fifteen homes were evacuated during the investigation.
