BREA (CBSLA) - A compliance check by Orange County probation officers Thursday led to a hazardous materials alert and bomb squad response.
Probation officers were checking on a probationer at a home at 742 Sonora Street in Brea when they saw some hazardous materials and called Brea police at 2:45 p.m., said Brea police Sgt. Chris Haddad.
Two people were detained and neighboring homes were evacuated, Haddad said.
Anaheim and Brea firefighters responded as well as the Orange County sheriff's bomb squad, Haddad said.
It was not immediately disclosed what type of hazardous material drew the response. Nobody was injured.
The Brea Police Department posted a Facebook video about the incident Thursday.
UPDATE (7:55pm): Roads have re-opened and residents have been cleared to return to the neighborhood. Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE (6:25pm): Investigation is on-going. There is still no immediate risk to residents in the area of Skywood/Sonora. Road closures in the immediate area are still in place. We will continue to provide updates as needed.

INCIDENT UPDATE:
(2/17/21, 4:30pm) At approx 2:45pm, Brea PD responded to the 700 block of North Sonora. Orange County Probation Department was conducting a compliance check and discovered hazardous materials inside the residence. Anaheim Fire And Rescue Hazardous Materials, Brea Fire Department, OCSD Bomb Squad responded and are on scene to confirm the material substance.
There is currently no immediate danger to the community.
The area of Skywood and Sonora is currently blocked off to all through traffic.
