50-year Dodgers season ticket holder misses Opening Day after team refuses to print tickets for 2026 season

A longtime Los Angeles Dodgers season ticket holder missed their home opener for the first time in five decades after the team refused to print his tickets out for the 2026 season.

"I refused to go this year," said Errol Segal. "Otherwise, I would have gone. I don't feel good about the Dodgers, what they did."

Segal said that he's taking a stand after feeling like he was left behind by technology and the Boys in Blue.

"This is my iPhone," Segal joked. "It's a flip phone, it's not an iPhone."

At 82 years old, he says that he doesn't know how to use apps or iPhones, and now that so much of Dodger Stadium is digital, including their ticketing for entry to the field, he now feels like he's going to miss out on as many big moments as he's witnessed in the past as a fan.

"I can't send the tickets through my phone. If I knew how to use an iPhone, it would be different," Segal said. "If I knew how to use a computer, it would be different."

He says that the refusal to print his tickets for the first time in decades feels personal. It's the first time he's missed Opening Day at Chavez Ravine since becoming a season ticket holder, and the first time that they've refused to make an exception for Segal since going digital nearly 10 years ago.

"I really love the Dodgers, but I don't feel good about this whole thing," Segal said. "I feel they're discriminating against me."

As the owner of a recycling company that used to recycle brochures for the Dodgers, Segal said that the amount of recycled paper products has plummeted. He hopes that his voice doesn't get lost in the digital divide, urging people to realize that there is still value in tradition.

Segal's son is now going to the games in his place, and he's unsure if he'll return to Dodger Stadium anytime soon. He says that he refused the team's offer to refund his tickets, hopeful that a resolution can still be met.
