EXPOSITION PARK (CBSLA.com)  —  A 2-year-old girl is dead and a woman has been transported to a hospital with possible stab wounds in Exposition Park.

The child was reportedly stabbed multiple times.

When the story first broke, there were erroneous reports that a woman with a baby was attacked on the street.

LAPD later said the woman and child were both found inside a residence.

KCAL9's Andrea Fujii has arrived on scene and is awaiting a briefing from authorities.

Officials said they do not believe the woman is a suspect but rather described her as a victim. Police believe the woman was the child's mother.

No suspect information was available.
