17-year-old girl shot and killed in Riverside County

A 17-year-old girl was shot and killed in the Riverside County community of Mecca this week, authorities said.

The teenager was suffering from gunshot wounds when deputies arrived to the 91800 block of Avenue 66 in the unincorporated community at 1:02 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. They performed life-saving measures but she was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released a possible suspect or any other information about the killing.
