TVD Blog 4-26: The great beyond
It was journey to the great beyond in this week's Vampire Diaries. Last week, when Esther went to the great beyond -- the great beyond wasn't far beyond her daughter, Rebekah --because, Esther took over Rebekah's body. But Esther wanted to go back into her own body, so Alaric obliged by sending Rebekah to the great beyond reawakening Esther from the great beyond.
Elena went beyond her comfort zone asking Stefan to the Decades Dance at the high school. And Esther tricked Klaus into going to the Decades dance to dance with Caroline – which put Tyler beyond the edge. Esther went above and beyond. She cast two spells: one that makes the white oak stake indestructible and, the other to turn Alaric into a super vampire killer. That sent Damon, Stefan and Klaus beyond crazy, because Alaric could send EVERYONE to the great beyond, if he killed all the "Originals."
They left the dance to find Esther and Alaric. But, beyond the door of the dance was a boundary that no vampire could go beyond – trapping everyone – and allowing Esther to contact the great beyond and concoct her double duty potions. While Bonnie went beyond the call of duty to break beyond the boundary spell, Esther concocts a potion that Alaric drinks. Then, Esther, always the compassionate one, stabs Alaric, temporarily sending him to the great beyond. Esther's attack is interrupted by Jeremy and Matt. As she is about to kill Jeremy and Matt, Alaric wakes from his death and sends Esther to the great beyond. Alaric must now feed to complete the transition to a super vampire killer, but he realizes that his evil side is way beyond his control. Afraid he might go beyond vampires and kill the town, he decides not to take the final feeding step, thus sending him to the great beyond.
As he lays there looking beyond his life to the great beyond, witchy woman Bonnie is reached by the great beyond by Esther who tells Bonnie to finish the job her sister witches want her to finish…which means she goes beyond what she should do and goes to Alaric. Bonnie forces Alaric to feed by offering her own blood and turns Alaric into a super vampire. Cue beyond the grave music - DUM DUM DUM
By season end, will everyone be a vampire or sent to the great beyond? And will Alaric go beyond the call of duty to kill all the originals with his new stake? What is at stake for Stefan and Damon if Alaric gets his way? And I would put anything beyond Klaus, cunning little vamp. There are only a couple of episodes left beyond this week and the tension is almost beyond comprehension. So tell me this readers: What happened this week that sent you beyond the edge of your seat?
