Herald Hay Fire Expected To Burn For Days

DIXON (CBS13) - The wind continues to fan a hay fire in Herald that broke out on Thursday and is expected to burn for days.

Smoke from the fire could be seen for miles in South Sacramento.

Fire crews are watching the fire but not fighting it.

"We've had it happen where there was moisture in the bale and it spontaneously combusts," said Herald Fire Department Capt. Mark Kitchner. "Pretty much it will be a couple of days we'll have to have a couple of trucks out here."

There are no homes in the area, but firefighters will still be watching the winds today to make sure the fire does not spread.
