Coca-Cola To Close South Sacramento Bottling Plant

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The future of 60 Coca-Cola employees in Sacramento is up in the air after the company announced it will be closing its south Sacramento bottling plant.

CBS13 spoke to a company spokesperson who confirmed the plant will close, but did not say when it closure would happen. The spokesperson also said the company has not decided if employees will be laid off or reassigned to a different plant.

Plant employee Les Linton said he received a call from his boss on Wednesday night with the bad news. Les says the equipment in the plant is outdated, and said it got even worse after the company bought the Natomas plant about two months ago.

"It was just disappointing. I thought we would keep going for a while, but that's life," said Les.

Les says his wife is retired and still has an income, but he's feeling bad for employees because they probably won't know what to do. Les thinks plant managers will hold a meeting to address the closure on Thursday.
