5 Extraordinary Ways To Time Travel In Sacramento

Ever wondered what it would be like to experience another era? Well, time machines haven't been invented yet (we think), but we have a few ideas that might feel just as legitimate as time traveling! Check out what Sacramento has to offer for those who feel out of place in this century!

1. Go on an Underground Tour in Old Sacramento: If you like to learn about the history of your city while getting a little spooked, be sure to sign yourself up for an underground tour of Old Sacramento. You'll learn about "the multiple natural disasters that challenged the City from its start in 1848" while getting a sense of what the times were like for people who first lived here.

2. Take Swing Lessons at Midtown Stomp: If you like to dance to music that makes you feel like you're living in the WWII era, these lessons are for you. You'll dance to live Big Band Swing music and be surrounded by swell people dressed as if they were born 70 years ago.

3. Have a Western Photo Taken at McGee's: Ever wanted to go back to the Old West? Well you can have your chance at McGee's in Old Sacramento. Dressing up for these photos will make you feel like you just stepped off the set of a John Wayne movie. Be sure to grab yourself a drink at Fanny Ann's beforehand!

4. Catch an old movie at the Crest Theater: Whether you're an old soul or love watching movies from your childhood, the Crest is always showing flicks that will help you reminisce. This Sunday they are playing The Wizard of Oz and later in March they are playing The Goonies and the old King Kong.

5. Have a cocktail at The Shady Lady: The cocktails, food and decor at The Shady Lady are inspired by the past. On any given night you can find women hanging out dressed in flapper dresses and listen to bands play music that makes you feel like you're in a real speakeasy. On special nights, you might even need a spoken password to get in! It is the Prohibition era you know!
