Two North Dallas women are turning their passion for the arts into passion for saving animals.
In North Texas, some 200,000 dogs and cats are euthanized each year - and that's a modest estimate.
Erin Hannigan is one North Dallas woman who's working to change all that. Hannigan is the principal oboist at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and is a professor of oboe at SMU.
Hannigan got in contact with photographer Teresa Berg after seeing her on CBS Sunday Morning. Like Hannigan, Berg also uses her talents to help animals.
Berg's studio happens to be in Hannigan's neighborhood. So the two joined forces; and together, they formed the 501-C-3 charity Artists for Animals.
And on February 13th, Hannigan and Berg will be putting on their annual fundraising concert, with all proceeds going to Operation Kindness, the largest no-kill animal shelter in North Texas.
In addition, Hannigan says the two put on a weekly art show.
Berg says Artists for Animals has been a most rewarding experience.
