Woman Unharmed After Locked In Texas Library For 36 Hours

WACO (AP) — An elderly woman survived being locked alone in a Central Texas library for about 36 hours after she was trapped in a bathroom stall.

Waco authorities say the woman, whose name wasn't released, was unharmed when she was found Monday morning as workers arrived. The incident happened at the West Waco Library & Genealogy Center.

City spokesman Larry Holze says employees are required to check the library to make sure patrons are gone before locking up at 6 p.m. Saturday, but did not check the bathrooms. The woman was found around 6:30 a.m. Monday.

She did not have a cellphone. Officials didn't immediately say why the woman was unable to get out of the restroom stall.

Holze did not provide the woman's age but described her as elderly.
