Mother Out With Her Kids Attacked, Robbed In Euless Parking Lot
EULESS, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A mother was attacked and robbed in a Euless parking lot moments after putting her two young children in her SUV.
Police said the terrifying encounter happened around 7:30 p.m. on December 12 as they were leaving a business along North Main Street near East Midway Drive.
A masked suspect confronted the woman, punched her in the face knocking her to the ground and grabbed her purse.
"That's when my daughter start running after me, and then I saw the car leaving," the victim told CBS 11. "I was like 'oh my goodness. She could have gotten killed.' And I was so terrified. From that night, my kids are still traumatized. They don't want to sleep by themselves."
The mother asked CBS 11 not to show her face or give her name.
She's coming forward about her December 12 attack because she the third victim in the same shopping center.
After the attack, the suspect jumped in the backseat of what appears to be a white 2017 or 2018 Dodge Dart and sped off.
At that point, her children and other bystanders rushed to the woman's aid.
"I'm hoping, praying that they'll get caught. I don't want to see anymore victims. And we don't deserve this. We are immigrants, we work so hard. From morning to nighttime. We don't deserve this at all," said the victim.
Euless police say 11 others have been robbed, had their cars broken into, and a few were even shown a gun in the past year.
They are all women, mostly Asian.
Most of the crimes happening once the sun sets in the same area of town.
Several attacks happened in a Kroger parking lot up the road.
"We are working with some other cities, particularly Irving, on developing some more leads that they're working on but we do believe that we are dealing with same group of suspects," said Euless Police Sgt. Scott Peterson.
Police said they have increased patrols in the area, even planting unmarked police in the area.
Their worry is the thieves could become more aggressive and claim a life.
Police are advising women in this area to keep their eyes open.
They also urge them not to fight back if they are being robbed because that could escalate the level of violence.
