Video Shows Deadly Hit & Run, As Police Search For Driver

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A fresh look at surveillance video showing a hit-and-run in Arlington is giving police a new perspective on the crime.
Police are now asking the community to look for a dark gray Chrysler 300 with front-end damage. Citizens are being advised to take note if someone they know has such a vehicle, but suddenly aren't driving it.
Detectives are determined to get justice for Kelly Walters, and a tiny bit of peace for her grieving family.
Walters mother, Ginna, can't hid her grief. "I'm struggling right now," she said.
As a mother, Ginna finds herself in an unimaginable place. She's making plans to bury her 20-year-old daughter. The hit-and-run driver killed Kelly Walters, a junior at the University of Texas at Arlington, Friday night.
Speaking directing to the driver Ginna said, "You're hiding… but, it's not hiding from inside you. You know you did it."
Surveillance video and debris found at the scene indicates the driver of Chrysler ran over Kelly Walters. In the video you see the car speeding through a red light and striking and killing Kelly seconds after she stepped into the crosswalk.
The heartbroken mother had these harsh questions for the person behind the wheel. "Were you drunk? Were you high? Were you texting? Were you racing? What were you doing? I don't know. But, you know you did it. And you'll know for the rest of your life that you killed my daughter."
Ginna Walters says much has been made of her 20-year-old daughter's passion for politics, but the young woman also ran cross-country, loved neuroscience and was her mom's best friend.
Ironically, Kelly's mom said she recently wrote down final instructions for her beloved daughter. She is left believing her child would share those same encouraging words with her. "She'd tell me that my best is good enough… whatever my best is, it's always good enough."
