DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- Two people were killed in a single-vehicle crash along the southbound service road of I-35 near Continental Avenue in Dallas.

The Dallas County Sheriff's Department confirms the accident occurred just after 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

According to investigators, a green SUV appears to have lost control after suffering a blown out tire on I-35 just before the exit ramp. The vehicle then left the road, taking out an exit sign before striking a large pole.

The SUV then continued across the three lanes of the service road before coming to a stop on a sidewalk.

Officials say that two men and a woman, all wearing seat belts, were in the vehicle at the time. The two men were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to Parkland Hospital and is expected to survive.

The identities of the deceased have not been released.

The accident occurred near the Decker Building, which now serves as a probation office and treatment center for Dallas County. People attempting to exit or enter the building are being turned away by authorities.

A probation officer who works in the Decker Building says he often sees crashes around the highway exit ramp.

"Usually there are rear-enders because somebody coming down the access road suddenly stops because they see someone coming off the freeway. Then they get hit from behind."
