Family Of 4 Hurt In Johnson County RV Fire
ALVARADO (CBSDFW.COM) - A family of four, including two children, was seriously hurt Tuesday night after fire swept through their recreational vehicle outside of Alvarado, officials said.
Firefighters, paramedics and sheriff's deputies were called to the Dodge City RV Park on County Road 616 around 11:00 p.m., said Sgt. Jay Stubbs with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.
CareFlite air ambulance was dispatched less than 15 minutes later, sending four helicopters to the scene. All four choppers took their patients to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
The names of the victims have not been released, but police did confirm the ages. The father is 23 years old, the mother is 19 years old, and those children are 4 and 5 years old. The current conditions of these individuals are not known.
Johnson County officials said that one person inside of the RV lit a cigarette, which resulted in an explosion. In fact, deputies were told that the roof started burning blue with flames. "It's still an active investigation," Stubbs said.
The family of four lived at the RV park. A man who answered the phone at the RV park declined to comment on what had happened.
