2 Teens Arrested, 1 Still Wanted In Series Of Aggravated Robberies in Fort Worth's Hulen Mall Area
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Fort Worth Police announced Tuesday afternoon a break in a series of aggravated robberies in the Hulen Mall area.
Two people are in jail and police are looking for a third.
Anyone who visited an ATM, went to dinner or shopped in the Hulen Mall area last week were potentially in the vicinity of a team of young criminals, police said.
Isaiah James, 17, and two other teens, committed eight robberies between November 10 and 16, police said.
The victims were often people withdrawing money from ATMs or leaving a fast food restaurant.
In at least three cases, the robbers were able to reach inside victims' cars either through an open window or by opening a car door, and then punched the victims in the head.
One victim told police he had just pulled through the Chase bank ATM near Hulen Mall when two teens approached, looking like there were heading into the restaurant next door.
When he started to pull away, he said one of the teens reached for his SUV's door handle, the other fired his gun.Police say they found the suspects in a stolen car.
"Anytime we have someone robbed, it's a concern for us," said Buddy Calzada of the Fort Worth Police Department. "The advantage we have is detectives realized early on these were possibly related, and we caught the people related in all these."
With Christmas around the corner and all the holiday shopping going on, Fort Worth Police said officers will be working extra hours and increasing their presence around Hulen Mall and other locations.
Their main advice is to stay alert and if you have to sit in your parked car, try doing it at a gas station or somewhere else where there are lots of cameras.
