Tasha's To Do List: May 7-10

KRLD -- Are you looking for something to do with your furry friend this weekend? There's plenty happening across North Texas! Tasha Stevens fills you in.

-- You can say what you want about the 80's, but you cannot deny we had some rocking movie theme songs. Relive them all with Thursday night's The '80s Movie Anthem Sing-Along at Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson.

Thursday night's Cool Thursdays at the Dallas Arboretum is where you need to be if you dig the band Journey. Tonight's band is the awesome Journey tribute, Escape. Tonight's Costume contest: "Never Stopped Believin'" award. Dress as what you wanted to be when you grew up. This could be scary.

-- This guy was all over country radio back in the 80's and 90's. See Steve Wariner at Billy Bob's this Saturday night.

-- If a show could be your jam, this would be mine. I don't know what I am going to do until they come back next season! See the Season Finale of The Big Bang Theory Thursday night on CBS!

-- Friday evening at the SMU Miller Event Center, enjoy some wine, hors d'oeuvres, live music and more than 80 works of fine art. It is all part of Art to Beat Cancer -- an event benefiting Children's Medical Center Research Institute at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

-- This dude toured with Taylor Swift, and I think her writing songs about exes rubbed off on him. See Ed Sheeran at the Verizon Thursday night.

-- This is my kind of deal. The Dallas Pet Expo at Dallas Market Hall this Saturday will feature vendors with the newest pet products and giveaways. I am hoping they will have a truly indestructible bone that my three pit bulls can't inhale in one sitting. Another thing I love about this thing -- they'll offer discounted vaccinations, microchipping and heartworm and flea preventatives. That stuff is a big deal when you have six dogs like I do.

-- More fun from Dark Hour Haunted House, ya'll! This Friday and Saturday, Dark Hour Haunted House presents Walpurgisnacht, a halfway to Halloween celebration! This bizarre adventure combines live music with terrifying monsters inside a 30,000 square foot haunted house. You can also meet celebrity guest Drew Rin Varick from American Horror Story – Freak Show and check out artwork from local artists in the Night Gallery. It's all happening at Dark Hour Haunted House in Plano this Friday and Saturday night during Walpurgisnacht, a name you can't pronounce and an event you can't miss!

-- These guys have done so much for our furry friends through the years and now, Operation Kindness is Commemorating 39 Years of Helping Homeless Dogs and Cats. If your home is home to Operation Kindness Furry Alumni or you just respect what they do on a daily basis, join them this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for hot dogs, veggie dogs and cake -- plus hot dog bobbing for canines. Goodie bags with animal treats and Behind-the-scenes tours of Operation Kindness begin at noon.

-- You and your furry baby really do need to get out more. Lucky for you, this Saturday is the SPCA of Texas Mutts at the Movies night at Shops at Park Lane. It's a fun night for you and your four-legged friend to enjoy a movie under the stars. You can even register for Strut Your Mutt 2015!

-- Mother's Day is this Sunday, and if you are still looking for something to do, how about brunch with your mama at the Dallas Zoo? You can use the time to see the zoo's new baby giraffe!

-- Dig out that kilt. The Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games is happening this weekend (May 8-10). If it is Scottish…this deal will have it… Scottish music, bagpipes, dance and athletic competitions, an all-Scottish-breed dog show, and Scottish foods and ales. They'll also have the Bonniest Knees Contest. It is happening at Maverick Stadium on the University of Texas at Arlington campus.

-- The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge is gearing up for its 23rd Annual Buffalo Boogie. Any event with the words Buffalo and Boogie together in the same sentence means Tash' will be there. This is a pet and family friendly deal that features a one-mile walk, a 5K fun run and a 5K chip-timed race.

-- The 32nd Annual FW Cactus and Succulent Society Show and Sale is happening at Ridgmar Mall in Fort Worth this weekend (May 8-10). If you dig plants, this is going to be like Christmas for you. They'll have thousands of plants for sale including rare and unusual cacti and succulents, cold hardy cacti and succulents, native cacti and succulents, and more!

-- Fireworks and a guy who "borrowed" portions of a Queen tune are the stars of Friday night's Fair Park Sparks at Fair Park.

-- If you dig music, this deal has your name written all over it. The Homegrown Music and Arts Festival this Saturday at Main Street Garden will feature Spoon, Old 97's, Bobby Patterson, and Shakey Graves plus they will have live art demos, a dog park and more.

-- The Untapped Festival is happening Saturday May 9 at Panther Island Pavilion in Fort Worth. The craft beer and music fest features over 250 brews and all types of performers, including hip-hop trio De La Soul, Big Data, indie pop personality Ariel Pink and metal group the Sword.

-- Is it wrong that I still think of this guy as Mr. Cher...after his marriage to her back in the 70's? While you are pondering that notion, make plans to see Greg Allman at the Verizon Friday night.

-- Feel like roughing it -- frontier style? Then be at the Fort Worth Stockyards this weekend for the free, two day (May 8-9) Frontier Forts Days event. It will be like stepping back in time as the Stockyards National Historic District is transformed into an authentic representation of Texas frontier life. Just don't step in anything else with all those cattle everywhere.

-- This guy is one of the few examples of it being a good thing when a 13-year-old sounds like a 40-year-old. Jonny Lang has been singing the blues along with gospel and rock since he was a kid. And not only his voice rock…but so does his guitar playing. See him at the House of Blues Saturday night.

-- Lana Del Ray and Courtney Love will be at Gexa Saturday.

-- It is that time of year again. Time for the Chalk This Way Sidewalk Chalk Festival. Professional and amateur chalk artists will show what they can do and the kids will have a special area to show off their skills. It is Saturday May 9 at the Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater.

-- I honestly don't think the movie Urban Cowboy would have been the same without this guy. See the awesome Texas native, Boz Skaggs at the Verizon Saturday night.
