KRLD --From racing to concerts to puppies, there's a lot happening around North Texas this weekend! Tasha Stevens fills you in.

-- Kick off summer this Saturday with Operation Kindness' Dog Day Afternoon. Gather the pups and head out to the largest festival in Dallas celebrating dogs and the people who love them at Flag Pole Hill near White Rock Lake. "Mutt Midway" will have dozens of vendors selling a wide variety of pet-related merchandise, puppy kissing booth and games with prizes -- and they will have Goodie bags for the first 750 humans.

I can' wait because I get to be the master of ceremonies at the event that will have contests like Best Costume, Stupid Pet Tricks, and Best Pooch Smooch. I will also have my rescue Chihuahua, Bossy Girl with me to help me as the pet ambassador.

-- Celebrate all things Dungeons and Dragons with the 7th Annual North Texas RPG Con at DFW Airport Marriott South Thursday through Sunday. The NTRPG Con focuses on old-school Dungeons & Dragons gaming and any pre-1999 type of RPG produced by the classic gaming companies of the 70s and 80s.

-- Check out a classic movie at the Granada Thursday night! This week's "Cliques & Flicks" is the awesome Heath Ledger in "10 Things I Hate About You".

-- Nelson the Goldendoodle, Walter the Wolfhound and Bacon the Piglet are hosting a Yappy Hour from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Grove at Harwood. They'll have everything you need -- live music, cocktails and tasty treats, volleyball, and party pics with your furry friend.

-- Cool Thursdays at the Dallas Arboretum this week features Springsteen tribute "Bruce in the USA". This week's costume contest is the "Glory Days" award. You need to wear your senior prom outfit. I know you still have it.

-- It is Pups on the Patio Thursday night at Cane Rosso in Fairview. At this benefit for Lone Star Rescue, pay $10 and receive a glass of beer or wine and two raffle tickets. There'll be pizza specials all night.

-- I remember banging my head to this dude's band back in the late 80's, early 90's…but Thursday night he will be in Dallas playing his daddy's music. Before you say that is nerdy, you must understand that his daddy was John Bonham, the drummer of Led Zeppelin. Check out Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience Thursday night at the HOB.

-- American Pharaoh is going for the Triple Crown this Saturday at the Belmont Stakes. Cheer him on at Belmont Stakes Day at Lonestar Park.

-- First Thursday Late Night is Creepy Crawlers at the Perot Museum. Discover the world through the eyes of creepy, crawly, and even cute insects. Explore what entomologists do, how bugs fit into our ecosystem, and learn more about how bugs live.

-- Fantasy In Sand is happening at Globe Life Park in Arlington now through August 23. It is really cool… -- a Wonderful Wizard of Oz theme, featured in 16 sand-sculpture scenes carved from 3 million pounds of sand. Other sculptures include American landmarks, such as the Lincoln Memorial, the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore. Kids can also create their own sand sculptures in a giant sandbox.

-- Go by and see the "Grit and Grace: Visions of the West" exhibit at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame now through November 8. This deal includes 28 paintings of Terri Kelly Moyers, which will include cowgirls, western landscapes, and the western lifestyle.

-- The Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival at Lake Carolyn HAS BEEN CANCELLED - City of Irving has cancelled the event this Sunday (06/07) as a result of damages caused by the recent flooding in the city.

-- The Winstar World Casino & Resort 400 World Truck Series is happening Friday at Texas Motor Speedway. Friday night, under the lights, see the best in the young guns, as they beat and bang for a shot at the title.

-- Then Saturday, it's the Firestone 600 -- the Verizon Indy Car Series' premiere night race.

-- If you want to venture back to the 80's, check out this Friday night's 10th Anniversary Retro Ball featuring "The GoGo's" Belinda Carlisle at Station 4.

-- If you want to learn more about ghosts in Texas, check out author Mitchel Whitington Friday night at South Irving Library as he presents stories and photos from haunted locations around the Lone Star State.

-- You know what they say about he who dies with the most toys -- so add to your collection this Saturday at the North Dallas Toy Show at Valley View Center Mall.

-- Spend Friday evening with a real bunch of animals. The Photo Safari Overnight at the Dallas Zoo will give you a chance to photograph the animals after it closes to the public and enjoy a gourmet dinner. Friday morning, you will awake to a sunrise breakfast, then visit some of the Zoo's most charismatic animals.

-- This Saturday's Concerts in the Garden at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden features Classical Mystery Tour -- a tribute to the Beatles by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.

-- I named my pig after these guys. Nah, not really. He wheezed when he slept. Plus, I don't know if they would take that as a compliment but whatever. Check out Weezer Saturday night at Winstar.

-- Want to see some kids who rock -- literally? Then be at the House of Blues Saturday night for "Kids Who Rock Presented by School of Rock".

In theaters Friday, you can do either the comedy thing or the horror thing with Melissa McCarthy in "Spy" or some actors you've never seen or heard of in the thriller "Insidious Chapter 3".

-- If you are a country music fan, this is your weekend. Tim McGraw is playing Gexa Saturday night.

-- If you like classic country, be at Billy Bob's Saturday night for Clint Black.

-- Panther Fest is this weekend in Fort Worth. Not only will this outdoor festival feature local craft beer, music and restaurants…but you will also have the chance to "Slide the City" by sliding down a potentially world record-breaking 2,000 ft. water slide–right on North Main Street in Fort Worth.

-- These guys amaze me. I mean, I like their music. But every time I see them on stage, I think about the fact that they are my mama and daddy's age, and there is no way my mama and daddy could run around a stage all night. Check out the Rolling Stones at AT&T Stadium Saturday night.

-- I don't know if you are aware of this, but it was 35 years ago Thursday that "Urban Cowboy" hit theaters nationwide. So celebrate by wearing those boots Friday or Saturday and be sure to see the guy who gave us the awesome Urban Cowboy theme song "Looking for Love". Check out Johnny Lee and the Urban Cowboy Band this Saturday at Castle Hills Village Shops Plaza in Lewisville.
