State Rep. Wants Funds To Boost Cowboys Stadium
AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) - Getting bigger events to Cowboys Stadium may hinge on some money from the state.
A bill by State Representative Diane Patrick would expand Texas' Major Events fund to include the Academy of Country Music Awards and both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions in attempts to lure them to Arlington.
Jay Burress, president of the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau says the money would be spent to snag the events from other states.

Burress says the money doesn't come from the state's budget, but from the tax funds generated from liquor sales, rental cars and hotels by such events, including last month's Super Bowl XLV.
