DUNEDIN, Fla. (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — A Florida man got an unexpected surprise after a 6-foot-long snake popped out of the hood of his car while he was driving along a busy highway.

Tim Mokwa of Clearwater tells news outlets that he was heading home on U.S. Highway 19 in Dunedin when the snake appeared right in front of his windshield.

Mokwa immediately pulled into a Walmart parking lot and recorded video on his phone of the long black snake slithering around on his hood.

Mokwa says he's unsure what type of snake it was. He says he had visited Weeki Wachee State Park over the weekend, and that's when he believes the serpent climbed aboard.

Mokwa said he doesn't know if the snake fell off his car or went back under the hood.

This past summer, a Denton mother had a similar surprise in her SUV. But when she saw this snake it was slithering toward the backseat -- next to her toddler. Philana Williams said she grabbed her baby and slammed the door shut as fast as she could.
