Sixth Floor Museum Acquires Oswald's Ring

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Sixth Floor Museum in downtown Dallas on Tuesday announced a new piece being added to its main exhibit. The center will now house Lee Harvey Oswald's wedding ring. Visitors can already begin seeing the ring on display Tuesday at the museum.
The 14-karat gold wedding band was purchased by Oswald in April 1961 at a jewelry store in Russia, ahead of his marriage to Marina Prusakova. It was said that Oswald never took off the ring.
However, Oswald famously left the ring in a teacup next to his wife's bed on the morning that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Researchers have called this a sign as to the mindset of Oswald on that morning.
"There are still many lingering questions about Lee Harvey Oswald and who he really was, and what motivated him," said The Sixth Floor Museum's executive director, Nicola Longford. "The display of his wedding band will help convey a more personal dimension to his story as a husband and father."
This is the first personal item of Oswald that the Dealey Plaza museum has acquired, as most everything else is still being held as evidence at the National Archives.
