Search Party Finds Body In Creek Matching Description Of Missing Ennis Mother

ENNIS (CBSDFW.COM) - Search volunteers found the body of a female matching the description of missing Ennis mother Emily Wade in a creek bed.

Chambers Creek was flooded the last night anyone saw Wade.

An autopsy is pending, but police said they believe flood waters may have swept her away. They still haven't discovered Wade's car.

The body will be transported to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office for positive identification and determination on the cause of death.

The Ennis Police Department said they wanted to "share their appreciation for all of the volunteers and assisting agencies that have spent countless hours over the past two weeks searching for Emily Wade.

Toney Wade, is with the Cajun Coast Search and Rescue Team. He spearheaded the search effort.

"We had no problems getting volunteers. Everyday people have been out with us every morning searching all day, every day," said Wade.

Monday, they searched Chambers Creek, about 20 minutes south of Ennis, when a volunteer spotted the body of a woman.

Volunteers were there Sunday and planned to go back Tuesday if they hadn't found her body Monday.

"One of the locals said i think that may be an area we need to check. We checked a couple areas that vicinity," said Wade.

Ennis police say the creek bed was known to be flooding the night Emily went missing.

Lake Bardwell empties out into the creek.

The woman's body has been sent to Dallas so a medical examiner can determine a cause of death and confirm if it's Emily Wade.

The 38-year-old mother of a little girl was last seen the night of January 5.

She met a friend for dinner and was last seen driving away from Clay Street in her 2012 Silver Nissan Altima.

The car hasn't been found.

"Locating the car is going to be difficult. The car is probably there. Just probably hasn't been found yet," said Wade.
