NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Several school districts in the area are changing their plans and cancelling some events and activities based on the severe weather threat today. Here is a list of reports we have received so far.
SAFEdragon Alert: Due to pending severe storms in our area, CISD canceling all afternoon and evening school activities. Stay safe, Dragons!
Because of expected storms, all #DallasISD activities after 7:00 p.m. are canceled.
Due to bad weather approaching the area today, all Duncanville ISD after-school activities have been cancelled.
Fort Worth ISD
The Fort Worth ISD Athletic Department has canceled many scheduled baseball games in an effort to avoid severe weather forecast for this afternoon and evening. Most of the games will move to Wednesday. The only games being played today (Tuesday) are those listed here: • Lake Dallas plays at Dunbar High School – 3:45 p.m.; • Alvarado will play at Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School – 5 p.m. (originally 7 p.m.); • Trimble Tech High School still travels to Arlington Heights High School – 5 p.m. (originally 7 p.m.); • South Hills will face Southwest High School – 5 p.m. (originally 7 p.m.). Athletic Administrators anticipate these games being concluded by 7 p.m.
Due to the threat of severe weather, FISD is cancelling all after-school and evening activities today.
All GISD after-school and evening activities for today are cancelled. The evening shuttle bus is also cancelled.
Grand Prairie ISD
All middle school soccer games scheduled for today have been canceled due to inclement weather forecast for this evening.
Grapevine Colleyville ISD
Out of an abundance of caution, GCISD is canceling all activities scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and later. This is due to the threat of severe weather this evening between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., Check with your campus administrators or coaches/sponsors about the rescheduling of activities. KidzU parents are encouraged to pick up children by 5:30 p.m. if at all possible. Kindergarten registration events planned for Bear Creek, Cannon, Colleyville Elementary, Dove, OC Taylor and Timberline Elementaries are cancelled for tonight. Parents are encouraged to contact the campus about rescheduling.
The varsity baseball game at Everman is being moved up to 5 p.m. due to impending weather.
Due to expected severe weather, all MISD after-school activities are canceled on April 26. MISD after-school child care programs will continue as scheduled. The MISD regular school board meeting will still take place at 6 p.m. at the MISD Center for the Performing Arts. Regular business items begin at 7 p.m.
All McKinney ISD after-school activities have been cancelled due to the issuance of a tornado watch and threat of severe weather. Club 360 after-school will continue their regular schedule, but we are encouraging parents to pick up early if at all possible.
Based on the severe weather predictions, Northwest ISD is canceling all evening activities for tonight, Tuesday, April 26. This includes the Northwest ISD Art Show at the Administration Building. There is another opportunity to attend the district's Art Show on Thursday, April 28 at 6 p.m. The safety of our students, teachers, and families is our top priority. Please stay safe, and check with your campuses regarding rescheduling events.
Excluding the PASAR after school program, Plano ISD is canceling all afternoon and evening activities due to the threat of severe weather.
Due to the predicted severe weather threat forecast for this evening, all evening events & games scheduled after 6:00 p.m. are canceled.
Stephenville ISD will be releasing students one-hour early today due to the severe weather threat.
